FORM TWO

In Form Two, the government of Tanzania, through the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), conducts a national assessment known as the Form Two National Assessment (FTNA). This assessment is designed as a formative evaluation, meaning its primary purpose is to monitor students' learning progress during the first two years of secondary education (Ordinary Level). Unlike the high-stakes examinations in Form Four and Form Six, the FTNA aims to provide feedback to students, teachers, and other educational stakeholders that can be used to improve teaching and learning strategies.

The FTNA measures a student's understanding and acquisition of knowledge and skills in various subjects taught in Form One and Form Two. These subjects typically include core subjects such as Kiswahili, English Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies (History, Geography, and Civics). The results of this assessment help to identify areas where students are performing well and areas where they may be struggling, allowing for timely interventions and support to ensure a stronger academic foundation for their remaining secondary education. It also provides the government with an overview of the general academic performance at the Form Two level across the nation.
